The City of Trenton, Ohio, has officially launched construction on a new police station, marking a major step forward in its broader municipal redevelopment plan. Designed by nationally recognized architecture firm BKV Group, the facility is part of the ambitious Trenton Square Development, which also includes a new City Hall and community space aimed at revitalizing the city’s civic infrastructure.
The new police station replaces the outdated facility at 11 East State Street, which a 2023 facility needs assessment deemed insufficient for modern operations. The current building lacked adequate space, security features, and the flexibility required to support today’s law enforcement demands. The new station will provide enhanced functionality, safety, and community accessibility.
BKV Group, known for its work in public safety architecture, brings a wealth of experience to the project. With a portfolio that spans police stations, fire departments, and government centers across the country, the firm is celebrated for its ability to balance operational efficiency with community engagement. Their design for Trenton’s police station includes secure interview rooms, modern dispatch and evidence processing areas, and public-facing spaces that foster transparency and trust.
Construction is being led by Vig Construction Company, in collaboration with Detroit Architectural Group. Vig has a strong reputation for delivering civic and commercial projects across the Midwest, with a focus on quality craftsmanship and timely execution. The firm’s partnership with BKV Group ensures that the new facility will meet both the technical and aesthetic standards expected of a modern municipal building.
The police station is part of a larger civic campus that will also house the City Manager’s Office, Finance Department, Zoning, Clerk of Council, and Mayor’s Court. A dedicated recreation and wellness space is planned to serve both city employees and the public, reinforcing Trenton’s commitment to holistic community development.
City officials say the new police station will improve public safety response times, provide a more secure and efficient environment for officers, and serve as a welcoming space for residents. The project reflects Trenton’s investment in its future—one that prioritizes smart growth, civic pride, and a safer, more connected community.
Construction is expected to continue through 2026, with phased openings planned for each component of the municipal campus.
