VIRGINIA, Minn.— The City of Virginia has officially unveiled its state-of-the-art Public Safety Center, a 50,000-square-foot facility that marks a historic milestone for the Iron Range community. Built by Kraus-Anderson’s Bemidji office and designed by Wold Architects & Engineers, the center consolidates fire, police, EMS, and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) operations under one roof for the first time.

Located at 1004 2nd Avenue South, the facility features a modern fire station, police department, and EMS hub, complete with 13 dormitories, training spaces, and a dedicated tower for drills. Amenities include a fitness center, day room, kitchen, and dining area—all designed with enhanced security and accessibility in mind.

Funded in part by the State of Minnesota, USDA Rural Development, and the Department of Iron Range Resources, the project reflects Virginia’s commitment to public service innovation and infrastructure modernization.
