KENNESAW, Ga.—The City of Kennesaw has officially opened a new 25,000-square-foot Public Safety Facility, completing a major investment designed to modernize law enforcement operations and support future public safety needs in the growing Cobb County community. The new headquarters, located at 3074 Moon Station Road, was unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 23.
The approximately $15.6 million project consolidates the Kennesaw Police Department’s operations into a single purpose-built facility, replacing a long-standing arrangement in which personnel were split between space in City Hall and a former Cobb County fire station dating to the 1950s. The project also brings emergency operations and 911 communications functions together under one roof, creating a centralized hub for public safety services.
Designed by CPL Architects & Engineers and built by Gay Construction, the two-story facility provides expanded capacity and enhanced operational capabilities for the department. The building is reported to be roughly 40% larger than the police department’s previous headquarters and was funded through the city’s 2022 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program. Patterson & Dewar Engineers provided engineering and construction administration services.
The facility includes a range of specialized spaces intended to improve officer readiness, investigative capabilities and community engagement. Key features include a Real-Time Crime Center that enhances information sharing with regional, state and federal law enforcement partners; a virtual training room for simulation-based exercises; a dedicated K-9 area; crime lab; armory; fitness center; and community room for public meetings and outreach programs.
According to city officials, the project represents years of planning and reflects Kennesaw’s long-term commitment to public safety infrastructure. During opening ceremonies, city leaders noted that the modern facility will provide officers and staff with upgraded technology, improved security and more efficient workspace while positioning the department to meet future operational demands.
The opening marks the culmination of a project first approved in 2025 and establishes a new home for police, emergency management and communications personnel as Kennesaw continues to invest in public safety services for residents and businesses alike
