ELBURN, Ill.—The Village of Elburn is expanding its Police Department and Village Hall to enhance public services and improve operational efficiency. The groundbreaking ceremony for this expansion took place on May 13, at 301 E. North Street, with village officials, community leaders, and police department members in attendance.
The event also included representatives from Dewberry Architects and Harbour Contractors, Inc, who are respectively leading the design and construction of the 32,000-square-foot expansion.
The project will include:
• Additional workspace and holding cells
• Upgraded technology and enhanced safety measures
• Office space improvements and modernization
The project is expected to be completed by April 2026.
At the Village Hall and Police Department expansion groundbreaking, Village President Jeff Walter shared his thoughts on the significance of the project:
“This expansion marks a significant step forward for our village, ensuring that our local government and police department have the resources needed to serve our residents effectively and efficiently. We are excited to provide a facility that reflects our dedication to safety, efficiency, and community engagement.”
Elburn is a village in Kane County, Illinois, located approximately 45 miles west of Chicago, with a population of around 6,175.
Dewberry has been involved with several recent police facility projects of note recently, including:
• Glen Ellyn Police Department (Illinois): A 29,000-square-foot facility focused on improved safety and efficiency, featuring a community room, upgraded holding cells, and modernized office space.
• Westfield Police Department Headquarters (Indiana): Dewberry was awarded a $2.6 million design contract for a new police station, with construction planned to start next year.
• Town of Vienna Police Station (Virginia): A 29,441-square-foot headquarters designed to replace the existing facility, showcasing improved technology and security measures.
