DES MOINES, Iowa—The new Des Moines U.S. Courthouse is all set to open on June 16 at 111 Locust Street, Des Moines. This 230,000-square-foot federal courthouse will house nine courtrooms and host workspace for various judicial offices—including the Southern District of Iowa Judiciary, Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services, U.S. Marshals Service and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The project was funded by Congress in 2016 and has been designed with sustainability in mind; it is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
The building also reportedly will include a satellite library, GSA building management space, trial preparation space for the Federal Public Defenders and the U.S. Attorneys.
