ROWLETT, Texas—The City of Rowlett celebrated the groundbreaking of its future Municipal Complex on April 26. The major undertaking—funded by a 2023 voter-approved bond—will culminate with a modern campus of vital city services, including City Hall, police and fire administration, courts, and a jail. It will also include an animal shelter and community park space.
The new Municipal Complex is the largest capital investment in Rowlett’s history.
The groundbreaking ceremony inlcuded speeches from Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Winget and other city officials, who praised the project’s long-term investment in service, safety, and civic pride.
Hoefer Welker is overseeing the design of the essential new venue; construction firm Swinerton and engineering teams from Lamb-Star, Terracon, and SAM are also leading the project. The city intends to provide ongoing updates and community involvement opportunities during the construction period.
The Rowlett Municipal Complex will span approximately 72,806 square feet on 25-acre grounds at 4601 Centennial Drive. The facility will house City Hall, police and fire administration, courts, a detention center, an animal shelter, and community park space.
The grounds will also include walking trails, gathering spaces, playgrounds, and a dog park. It’s designed with the ability to accommodate future growth, making sure Rowlett’s civic services can expand as needed.
