PANAMA CITY, Fla.—Bay County, Fla.’s historic courthouse has undergone major renovations and a new South Wing addition.
The $12.9 million, 29,000-square-foot expansion includes office space for the 14th Judicial Circuit judges, two large courtrooms and one smaller courtroom. Renovations to the original courthouse, built in 1914, modernized 60,000 square feet of interior space, reconfiguring the first and second floors to improve efficiency.
A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the courthouse complex in Panama City. The public is invited to attend, with refreshments and tours of the upgraded facilities.
It’s the first major renovation since the 1970s, and officials say it will provide modern, efficient spaces for court operations and public service.The Bay County Courthouse renovation was designed by C. Dennis Evans, Architect.
The construction was conducted by C&C Construction, which was awarded the contract on May 2, 2023. BGN Contractors was also involved in the project, with Jason Bryant serving as their project manager.
