WESTMINSTER, Colo.—Significant structural milestones are being reached on the new Westminster Municipal Courthouse, with construction expanding into a dual-phase push on both the interior and exterior of the facility. Designed by Anderson Hallas Architects and built by general contractor FCI Constructors, Inc., the $43 million civic facility is taking physical shape directly atop the original parking lot at 3030 Turnpike Drive.

Drivers passing by the job site will notice substantial exterior masonry progress, led by ongoing brick and stone panel installations on the building’s north facade. Concurrently, heavy material deliveries are sustaining heightened activity inside the structure. Crews are actively executing interior framing for the future courtrooms, administrative offices, and public circulation pathways. Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical utility systems are also being routed through the framing ahead of the drywall phase.

City officials note that as exterior elements wrap up, visible outdoor activity will taper off, and operations will transition almost entirely indoors. Future interior milestones will shift toward hanging drywall, laying flooring, and applying final structural finishes. By utilizing the existing parking footprint, the city has kept the current 60-year-old court complex fully functional for local residents throughout the active build cycle.

The purpose-built infrastructure replaces a building originally erected in 1961 as two distinct structures for City Hall and a police station. Decades of patchwork expansions left the outdated hub struggling with operational flow, lacking standard security barriers, and failing to meet modern Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility guidelines. The incoming facility addresses these liabilities while welcoming a co-located facility for the Community Reach Center behavioral health nonprofit, public seating plazas, and a community playground.

As the campus advances toward its ultimate 2027 completion target, Westminster plans to systematically repair the surrounding infrastructure heavily impacted by construction machinery. Once the complex opens, Grove Street is slated for total repaving, while regular monitoring and localized maintenance will continue on neighboring Hooker Street.
