NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Nashville’s fast-growing Antioch neighborhood is welcoming the city’s newest police precinct, a 25,000-square-foot facility designed to enhance public safety and set a new standard for sustainable civic infrastructure. Slated for imminent completion and planned opening in October, the Southeast Precinct will house 83 personnel and feature a 1,400-square-foot community room open to the public.
Led by American Constructors, Inc., with site preparation by Demo Plus Group, the project is transforming a former commercial site into a LEED® Gold-certified hub for law enforcement and community engagement. Metro Nashville General Services is overseeing sustainability efforts, which include a robust suite of green technologies.
Among the highlights: a 120kW rooftop solar array expected to generate 169,000 kWh annually—enough to power over 24 average homes for a year. A geo-exchange system will regulate heating and cooling by leveraging stable underground temperatures, while water-saving fixtures are projected to reduce usage by 29%. LED lighting with motion sensors and electric vehicle charging stations further reduce the building’s environmental footprint.
Educational signage throughout the precinct will help staff and visitors learn about the building’s sustainability features, reinforcing Metro’s commitment to transparency and environmental stewardship.
The precinct’s opening marks a major milestone for Antioch, which has seen a surge in development and crime. With the new facility, police coverage will shrink from 70 to 35 square miles, allowing for faster response times and more visible patrols. Commander Carlos Lara will lead the precinct, supported by a team of lieutenants, sergeants, and administrative staff.
