FRANKLIN, Ind.—Johnson County officials recently teamed up with Ferguson Construction to break ground on a new $38.4 million Court Services building in Franklin. Designed by Elevatus Architecture, the facility will consolidate community corrections, court and probation services under one roof—striving to boost efficiency and overcome space limitations in the current buildings. The new 73,000-square-foot building will include dormitories, classrooms, offices for therapists and more.
By bringing together multiple services in one space, the project upgrades public safety, community support and access to vital programs. It is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
According to a report from The Daily Journal, the new court services building will be located at 1071 Hospital Road and include 12 gender-divided dormitories (four female and eight male) and a total of approximately 254 beds.
The divided dorms will reportedly also allow community corrections to sort offenders into bunks based on common criteria such as their work schedule and their risk to reoffend.
Other parts of the facility, according to the Daily Journal, include day rooms, outdoor recreation spaces, classrooms, program spaces—and a room planned for outside agencies to meet with offenders.
