CLANTON, Ala.—On August 1, 2025, the Chilton County Courthouse project reached a major milestone with a celebratory Topping Out Ceremony. Held on Lay Dam Road in Chilton County, the event marked the placement of the final beam atop the new 72,000-square-foot, three-story facility. Construction workers, county officials, architects, and representatives from general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie gathered to sign the beam—inscribed with the words “Bright Future”—symbolizing unity and shared purpose. A meal followed, honoring the hard work of those bringing the vision to life.
Designed by Birchfield Penuel Architects and slated for completion by April 17, 2026, the $32 million courthouse is funded through a combination of county contributions and bond financing, with no additional burden on taxpayers. Once finished, the courthouse will serve as a centralized hub for county services, housing all departments—including the VA—except for Chilton County Transit. Built with efficiency, accessibility, and growth in mind, the facility sits on a 13-acre site with room for future expansion.
This milestone not only celebrates construction progress but also reflects the county’s commitment to a more connected and forward-looking civic infrastructure.
