UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP, Pa.—Upper Macungie Township officials, police leadership, and project partners gathered last week to break ground on a new police station that will replace the department’s long‑constrained headquarters and support one of the Lehigh Valley’s fastest‑growing communities. The 30,000‑square‑foot facility, rising at the corner of Grange Road and Cetronia Road, marks a major investment in public‑safety infrastructure as the township continues a period of rapid residential and commercial expansion.

The project is being managed by Alvin H. Butz, Inc., which township leaders praised for consistently delivering past municipal projects on time and within budget. Architectural design is led by GKO Architects, selected following a series of feasibility studies examining long‑term needs across police, fire, administration, and public works. Township supervisors previously approved $945,000 for design work on the police station.

Police Chief Mike Sitoski said the new building reflects a deliberate shift toward modern policing standards and officer wellness. The station will include updated spaces for patrol operations, investigations, records, evidence processing, and community services—areas that have long been constrained in the current facility. Sitoski emphasized that the design also incorporates dedicated wellness spaces, calling physical and mental resilience “a responsibility, not a luxury” for officers serving a growing township.

Township leaders framed the groundbreaking as part of a broader modernization effort. Earlier in the week, officials broke ground on Fire & Rescue Station 57, a 41,000‑square‑foot consolidated fire facility also managed by Butz. Board Chair Jeff Fleischaker noted that two major infrastructure projects launching in the same week underscores both the township’s growth and its commitment to long‑term planning.

State Rep. Mike Schlossberg described Upper Macungie’s pace of development as “a wonderful problem to have,” pointing to the need for updated public‑safety facilities that match the township’s trajectory. The new police station, he said, represents a “world‑class” investment in community protection.

Construction will continue through 2025, with township officials expecting the new station to serve as a cornerstone of public safety for decades. As crews begin site work, leaders say the project symbolizes not just a new building, but a forward‑looking approach to serving a community that shows no signs of slowing down.
