HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa.—Hatfield Township’s long-awaited new police headquarters on Cowpath Road is nearly ready to open its doors. After breaking ground in 2024, construction has moved steadily forward, and officials say the project is on track for completion by the end of 2025.
The new facility replaces the current School Road station, which has served the township and Hatfield Borough for decades but no longer meets modern policing needs. The Cowpath Road site, acquired in 2020, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art public safety hub designed to support both communities.
The single-story station includes a secure sally port for prisoner transport, a three-bay garage for police vehicles, and a dedicated firing range for officer training. Sustainability features such as solar canopies and energy-efficient systems are built into the design, reflecting Hatfield Township’s commitment to modern infrastructure. Expanded parking and roadway improvements coordinated with PennDOT will further enhance accessibility.
The project has been a collaboration of several key firms. Boyle Construction has overseen the build, Division 9 Construction has managed interior work, and McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie Architects (MWL) provided the architectural design. MWL, known nationally for its expertise in public safety facilities, crafted a layout that balances security with community accessibility.
Township leaders say the new station will not only improve police operations but also revitalize a previously underutilized area along Cowpath Road.
Once the police department relocates, the current School Road station will be repurposed as the new administrative and logistics hub for VMSC Emergency Medical Services, ensuring the building continues to serve the community.
With construction nearing its final stages, anticipation is building for the ribbon-cutting later this year. The new Hatfield Township Police Station will mark a significant milestone in the township’s ongoing investment in public safety, sustainability, and shared services.
