Won-Door Corporation, a leader in accordion-style fire and security door systems, has announced the debut of its latest innovation: FireGuard Corner Bi-Part. This enhancement to the flagship FireGuard model provides architects, specifiers and general contractors with a space-saving, aesthetically superior solution for challenging corner applications.

FireGuard Corner Bi-Part is a bi-parting configuration that meets at a 90° angle, reducing the footprint needed for installation and reclaiming valuable square footage. This is especially advantageous in high-traffic and spatially constrained areas such as stairway landings, elevator lobbies and escalator zones—locations where traditional radial configurations may not be feasible or desired.

“FireGuard Corner Bi-Part is a strategic expansion of the FireGuard line—delivering robust protection and unmatched design flexibility,” says J. Elias Campos, Vice President of Marketing. “Architects now have the freedom to maintain aesthetic continuity and maximize usable space, without compromising code compliance or safety.”

Engineered for integration with a building’s fire alarm or local smoke detection system, FireGuard Corner Bi-Part deploys automatically in emergencies. It holds a fire rating up to 90 minutes and is available in sizes up to 10’ high and 20’ wide per leaf, allowing for grand architectural expressions within stringent life-safety standards.

Fully compliant with NFPA and IBC codes, this model maintains the egress performance and reliability associated with all FireGuard products. Its introduction targets a longstanding challenge in vertical opening protectives—merging form, function and fire-rated security without inflating costs or compromising design.
