Construction is moving forward on the Reno‑Tahoe Airport Authority’s new Police and Airport Authority Headquarters, a four‑story, 62,000‑square‑foot facility that will consolidate law enforcement operations and administrative offices into a single campus at Reno‑Tahoe International Airport. The project, part of the airport’s broader MoreRNO modernization program, is designed to support the authority’s operational and staffing needs for the next 20 years.
The building, known as “The HQ,” will house a state‑of‑the‑art police station on the ground floor and a modern administrative campus above. Airport officials recently marked a construction milestone with employees, recognizing staff contributions to the building’s design. Employees provided feedback on workstation layouts, collaborative areas, and ergonomic features, shaping a workplace intended to improve functionality and support long‑term employee well‑being.
The headquarters will centralize the Airport Police Department, administrative leadership, and multiple business units currently dispersed across the airport campus. The new police station is expected to enhance response capabilities and streamline public access, while the administrative floors will replace aging office space with updated technology, flexible work areas, and improved meeting and training rooms. The facility will also support public meetings and essential business management functions for the authority.
The project is being designed by RS&H, the architecture and engineering firm supporting multiple MoreRNO initiatives, and built by Clark/Sullivan Construction, which is serving as the general contractor. Clark/Sullivan is also managing subcontractor pre‑qualification and construction delivery for the headquarters.
The HQ is one of several major capital projects underway as part of the MoreRNO program, which also includes a new Central Utility Plant and other infrastructure upgrades intended to modernize airport operations and accommodate long‑term passenger growth. Construction activity around the airport, including road modifications and utility work, reflects the scale of the modernization effort.
Airport officials say the new headquarters will improve efficiency, reduce operational fragmentation, and create a more cohesive working environment for the agency’s workforce. The project remains on schedule as construction progresses through its next phases.
