MIDLOTHIAN, Texas—November 2025 The City of Midlothian has officially opened its long-awaited Public Safety and Courts Facility, a landmark investment in civic infrastructure that consolidates critical services under one roof.
The two-story, 77,185-square-foot building, designed by Hoefer Welker Architecture, now serves as the central hub for the city’s public safety operations. Inside, residents will find police and fire administration offices, a modern dispatch center, an Emergency Operations Command Center, municipal courtrooms, and supporting offices — all designed to streamline coordination and enhance community protection.
The project was delivered under a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) model, giving the city flexibility to manage costs and select contractors for different phases. Hoefer Welker led the architectural design, while L.A. Fuess Partners provided structural engineering expertise. Multiple contractors have been engaged through phased bidding, with additional site work and the installation of a striking Public Service Memorial still underway.
Construction began in late 2022, with the city hosting a grand opening ceremony on September 13, 2025. While the facility is now operational, final phases are expected to continue into 2026.
City officials emphasized that the new facility represents both Midlothian’s rapid growth and its commitment to first responders. The building replaces outdated spaces, including a former church that once housed the police department, and provides state-of-the-art resources to meet the needs of a growing population.
